What does Halal mean?
In one sentence
Halal means permitted; anything God has not forbidden is halal by default.
Halal means permitted or lawful. In Islamic law the default ruling for things is permission, so everything is halal unless a text forbids it. Outside the Muslim world the word is best known for food, meaning meat from animals slaughtered in the prescribed way and products free of pork and alcohol, but it applies to every area of life: earnings, contracts, clothing, and relationships. Halal is one of five rulings, alongside obligatory, recommended, disliked, and forbidden. Seeking halal earnings and halal food is itself an act of worship.
